Privacy Policy

We collect only what we need. We protect what we collect.

This policy explains what personal data Pods collects, why we collect it, and how we handle it. It is written to be readable — not buried in legalese.

Who we are

Pods is a product of WavePeople, a diving-focused technology company. When this policy refers to "we", "us", or "our", it means WavePeople. When it refers to "you", it means you as a registered user of Pods.

What data we collect

We collect only the data necessary to provide and operate Pods. This includes: Account information, such as your name and email address, provided during registration, Profile information, such as diving certifications, specialties, experience level, and preferences. User content, including logbook entries, messages you send, and other content you create in the app. Uploaded documents, such as certification cards and insurance documents. Usage data, such as pod memberships, interactions, and activity within the platform.

Why we collect it

Your data is used to provide and improve the Pods service: to match you with dive buddies, to let you manage your diving profile and logbook, to facilitate messaging between divers, and to operate the platform reliably. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.

How long we keep it

Your data is kept for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all personal data associated with it is permanently removed within 30 days. Certain anonymised or aggregated data may be retained for analytics purposes.

Who we share it with

We share personal data with third-party service providers that help us operate and deliver Pods. These include infrastructure, authentication, database, and email delivery providers. These providers act as data processors and are bound by Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) that include appropriate safeguards under the GDPR. We only use service providers that provide sufficient guarantees regarding the protection of personal data.

International transfers

We may transfer and process personal data in countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA), including the United States. Where required by applicable law, we use appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), to protect personal data during such transfers.

Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete your personal data. Most of these actions are available directly in the Pods app. For any request you cannot fulfil yourself, contact us at privacy@wavepeople.io and we will respond within 30 days.

Cookies

Pods uses only essential session cookies required for authentication. We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or advertising cookies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our practices evolve. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or an in-app notice before the changes take effect.

Version: 2026-06-03 (June 2026). If you have any questions, contact privacy@wavepeople.io.
